What is Xeomin?

Are you looking for a way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines? If you are, you may feel overwhelmed with all the options on the market. There are countless surgical and non-surgical ways to combat the effects of aging. Have you heard about Xeomin®? It is an effective anti-aging treatment that can help you look and feel younger. While wrinkles are the result of facial expressions, such as smiling and laughing, it does not mean you have to stop expressing yourself this way. We want you to continue to smile and laugh as you enjoy smoother younger-looking skin. At Columbia Laser Skin Center, we offer Xeomin treatments to help you look as good as you feel. Contact us online or call us to schedule your consultation.

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is a neuromodulator, much like Botox. What is Xeomin used for? It is injected into your skin to smooth out wrinkles on your forehead, eyes, mouth, and brows. Dynamic wrinkles are the result of constant muscle contractions. These muscle contractions happen each time you laugh, smile, yawn, or frown. Xeomin injections are FDA-approved for frown or glabella lines.

Xeomin forces your body to stop releasing a chemical that causes muscle contractions. It relaxes your muscles and prevents the formation of new wrinkles and fine lines. Xeomin injections should always be administered by a professional, as the correct dosage is crucial to achieving natural-looking results.

How Long Does Xeomin Take to Work and How Long Does it Last?

Xeomin results can be seen within 3-4 days of your initial treatment. Xeomin is not a permanent solution to treat the effects of aging. On average, the results last about three months. Patients will need to schedule another treatment once the effects wear off. After some time, Xeomin is removed from your body via your metabolism.

Xeomin VS Botox

You may be thinking that Xeomin sounds similar to Botox. Botox is a popular treatment for wrinkles and fine lines. Xeomin was only FDA-approved in 2011. For this reason, many people don’t even know that it exists. However, Xeomin can offer a wide range of benefits. When considering Xeomin VS Botox, you may not know which is best for you. We are here to highlight their similarities and difference.

Botox and Xeomin are similar in that they are brand names for botulinum toxin, which is the main ingredient that relaxes your facial muscles. However, they differ in that Xeomin contains pure botulinum toxin A. The pure form of botulinum toxin A makes Xeomin less likely to cause an allergic reaction. There is also a lower risk of forming antibodies against Xeomin, which means you are less likely to develop a resistance to it. If your body builds antibodies against Xeomin, it will reduce its ability to relax your muscles.

Botox has a broader range of uses than Xeomin. The FDA only approved Xeomin to treat mild wrinkles and frown lines around your forehead. This does not make Xeomin inferior to Botox. It is a highly effective solution against wrinkles. Contact us to schedule a consultation so we can determine if Xeomin is the right treatment for you.

Schedule an Initial Consultation

Are you wondering if you are a suitable candidate for Xeomin treatments? While Xeomin is suitable for most patients, the best way to know for certain is to visit us for a consultation. During the consultation, we will get to know you as a patient. We will ask about your goals and medical history to determine if you are a suitable candidate for Xeomin. We will also explain the procedure in detail so you can be at ease.

We want you to be comfortable with the treatment, so we will provide you with instructions on how to prepare for the treatment, as well as guidelines to ensure you get the best results from Xeomin.

The Benefits of Using Xeomin

Xeomin has many benefits that make it stand out among other injectables. Here are a few reasons to choose Xeomin to combat the signs of aging.

Comfortable Treatments

To ensure your comfort, we will apply a topical numbing cream to the area being treated. This will eliminate any pain or discomfort you may feel during the procedure.

No Downtime

Since Xeomin injections are non-surgical, you won’t have to worry about any incisions, stitches, or extensive downtime. You can resume your daily activities after your Xeomin session. In addition, each session is fairly quick. Some patients can even squeeze a Xeomin treatment into their lunch break.

Lasting Results

One Xeomin treatment is enough to provide noticeable results for up to four months. This means that you can enjoy your youthful-looking skin for longer!

Preventative Treatment

Xeomin is not only an effective treatment but can also be used as a prevention. Patients can start their Xeomin treatments long before wrinkles and fine lines appear. Stop wrinkles and frown lines in their tracks with Xeomin!

Low Chance of Developing Antibodies

Since Xeomin is made of pure botulinum type A, patients are less likely to build up resistance to it. You can continue to use Xeomin without it losing its effectiveness.
