PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is a revolutionary skincare procedure that uses your own platelets to heal and improve your skin.

Many people opt for PRP to fill out areas like the cheeks, improve skin tone, and smooth and tighten the skin. In addition, platelet-rich plasma treatment has been shown to be effective in treating sexual dysfunction and hair loss.

Our Columbia Laser Skin Center staff can help you learn the benefits of PRP treatment and whether it is right for you.

How Does PRP Treatment Work?

When you come in for your appointment, our provider will draw a small amount of your blood and use a highly advanced centrifuge to separate the plasma that is rich in platelets from the rest of the blood. This platelet-rich plasma is the main ingredient for your treatment.

The average baseline blood platelet count is 150,000–450,000 platelets per microliter of blood. However, the platelet-rich plasma that will be used for your facial is five to eight times as concentrated as the normal baseline.

Every single platelet contains a large number of granules with growth factors in it. These growth factors are needed by your body to heal, regenerate, and repair your tissues.

During your PRP treatment session, the platelet-rich plasma forms a mesh network under your skin. This mesh network serves as a support system for the healing granules. Thus, your body begins healing your skin.

Part of that healing is done by mature cells working to rejuvenate and regenerate your skin from the inside out. In addition, your body is stimulated to boost collagen production and produce healthy skin tissue.

Why Choose PRP?

One of the biggest reasons to choose PRP facial treatments is because it effectively produces vibrant, smooth skin in the treatment area and across the entire face. Results tend to be consistent, and side effects are uncommon.

In addition, PRP does not cause allergic reactions because the treatment uses your own plasma. PRP is not likely to cause infection, either, for this same reason. It’s a natural treatment that is effective and safe.

What Is a PRP Treatment Session Like?

The treatment sessions for platelet-rich plasma don’t take long, and there is little to no downtime required. Most of our patients leave the center and resume their normal activities right away.

Platelet-rich plasma treatment is provided by a trained medical provider. Once the plasma is separated from the other components, it will be applied to your face just like any other skincare product.

Then, using a very tiny microneedling device, the plasma will be injected into your skin. This will boost collagen growth as your own plasma is “stamped” into the treatment area. After just a few days, most patients notice a fresh glow and tighter appearance to their skin.

PRP can effectively treat:

  • Hair loss
  • Wrinkles, lines, and blemishes on the face
  • Sexual dysfunction

The length of time for your treatment session will depend on what areas you will be treating and for what purpose you will receive treatment.

PRP on the Scalp for Hair Loss

The hormonal factors that contribute to hair loss are different for women than for men. Platelet-rich plasma treatments have been shown to successfully reverse and reduce hair loss in women.

While PRP can be used to treat hair loss for men, it must be combined with additional treatments for best results.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatment for the Face

There are many areas of the face that can be treated with PRP treatment injections. Some of these include the neck, forehead, chin, lips, cheeks, and the lower and upper eyelid area.

Many people receive platelet-rich plasma treatment to rejuvenate the skin around the mouth, as it’s one of the few treatments that successfully work in that area.

PRP Treatment for Sexual Dysfunction

Both women and men can benefit from this type of treatment to address problems with sexual dysfunction.

For men, injections are usually given as two to four doses spaced apart to promote the growth of new, strong, healthy tissue in the penis. This healthy new tissue produces longer-lasting, firmer erections during sexual activity. PRP can also increase sexual arousal in men.

For women, platelet-rich plasma injections can increase arousal, produce stronger and more intense orgasms, and decrease discomfort during sexual intercourse. Results of PRP for sexual dysfunction can last for up to 18 months.

Are You a Good Candidate for PRP Treatment?

Most adults make great candidates for PRP. If you have a low blood count or low platelet counts, you should not receive this skin treatment. You should also abstain from PRP treatment if you have cancer or take steroids or blood thinners.

Our providers will work with you on your PRP treatment plan. However, if platelet-rich plasma treatments are not for you, we have many other powerful skin treatments available!

PRP Treatment in The Dalles, OR

There are many reasons why this type of skin rejuvenation treatment is so popular with men and women alike. It’s a non-surgical way to boost the skin’s health without incisions or anesthesia.

Platelet-rich plasma treatment is also a minimally invasive way to improve sexual dysfunction and hair loss without surgery or downtime.
